9/18/22 Weekly Announcements

Good afternoon, everyone!

Here is the link to yesterday’s service.

EVENTS/HAPPENINGS THIS WEEK:

It’s a busy week! This is just a quick list so current events don’t get lost. Please see the grid under DATES TO REMEMBER for more detailed information.

  • Thursday 9/22
    • Sweet Teas via Zoom at 1:00pm
    • Trivia Team at 6:00pm in Junction City
  • Saturday 9/24 – Yard sale at River Road Church; volunteers still needed!
  • Sunday 9/25 – Youth rafting trip on the McKenzie River after River Road services.

9/18 TOWNHALL:

  • Reviewed financials; we have money
  • Discussed several upcoming events; see details on events under DATES TO REMEMBER
  • Potlucks – Discussed whether to go back to having them monthly or change to quarterly. Decision was made to move forward with quarterly but once a month (on town hall days) to have something more substantial than the weekly cookies/desserts. Jen will coordinate to make that happen.

DATES TO REMEMBER:

Congregation Day Date Time Event/Announcement
River Road Thursday 9/22 6:00pm – 7:30pm Trivia Team @ The Beer Station in Junction City (495 Holly Street) All ages are welcome & you are not obligated to attend every week. If you are going to come, please check this link https://www.djtrivia.com/cod/ for the Clue of the Day for clues about questions that will be asked that day as well as an item to bring to score bonus points. (It’s different every day so you must check on Thursday!)

——————————————-

Both Saturday 9/24 8:00am – 4:00pm Yard sale at the River Road church; see Marilyn or Michele for details. If you have items that you would like to include but are unable to store them until the sale, bring them in & we can store them in the parsonage. Volunteers are still needed particularly for setup. We’ve collected quite a bit of furniture that will need to be moved out of the parsonage in the yard for the sale.

River Road Sunday 9/25 After service & lunch, exact time TBD Youth rafting trip on the McKenzie River. More details to come. You know who you are if you are planning to attend. If that’s you, make sure you confirm with Pastor Linda that you are coming so she can turn in an accurate head count to the guide. She needs a signed release from you as well.

(We do have the AM transmitter, so you’ll be able to tune in for sound.) Bring snacks to share & fellowship starting at 6:00, game will start at 7:00pm. As usual, this event is held at the River Road church but Salem members are welcome too! Watching the movie this way will be our dress rehearsal for the movie after Trunk or Treat on Halloween.

Both Monday 10/31 4:30-8:00 Trunk or Treat event at River Road location. Trunk or Treat will go from 4:30-6:00 then “Casper” will be shown in the yard. The movie will also be open to the community as part of our Halloween event. The movie can be watched from a blanket or chair in the yard as well as drive in style from a car using the AM transmitter for sound. Event starts at 4:30. If you have a car in the trunk or treat, you need to be there early to get setup & open for business by 4:30. We still need volunteers to supervise the bounce house & prepare the food. (Those with a vehicle in the trunk or treat will be manning their vehicle as well as games located near their car.) We are also still looking for more people to include their cars in the event. Please let us know even if you only have an available car (but no idea of how to decorate it) or an idea for a theme but no available vehicle & we can pair them up!

REMINDERS:

I will continue to add any prayers received on request slips during Sunday service to the prayer wall on our website unless the slip specifically says that it is not to be posted on-line. The prayer wall is available 24/7 for anyone to add a prayer. Although the prayer wall is on Eugene’s website it is also open for Salem members to use! Once at https://gcriverroad.com/ hover over the ANNOUNCEMENTS heading at the top of the screen & then click on Prayer Wall when it appears. Scroll to the bottom of the prayer list to enter your request into the provided fields. The name field is required; however, if you would like to add a request anonymously, you can enter “anonymous” there. You will still have to enter your email address, but it will not be posted anywhere. Once you have filled out the four fields (name, email, prayer request & select to share), click submit to post your request to the wall.
